Today, hypnosis is a medically accepted technique used for treatment of
different psychological disorders, and also widely used to achieve painless
labors, addiction cessation, phobia curing etc.
Hypnosis stages:
Somnolence: brief trance state, feeling relaxed. The examinee cans
clearly talk; EEG shows mostly beta waves (frequencies between 14 Hz
and 30 Hz).
Hypothalamic: almost all attention is focused on hypnotists, examinee is
highly suggestible. Examinee can later recall this phase. EEG shows
mostly alpha waves (frequencies between 8 Hz and 13 Hz).
Somnambulizam: the examinee is very relaxed, even lethargic and
cataleptic, talks unclearly; there are will be holes in memories; EEG
shows mostly theta waves (frequencies between 4 Hz and 7 Hz).
Comatose state: breathing is very slow, complete anesthesia, the
examinee is extremely suggestible. This state can be hard to achieve at
some persons because they are afraid of losing their own will; EEG shows
mostly delta waves (frequencies between 0.4 Hz and 4 Hz).
For a success of hypnosis process it is necessary to have a
complete confidence of the examinee to an examiner, also the
examiner should be a person with a great verbal skills and great
authority. This is the reason for popularization of self-hypnosis
techniques.
