What is Reiki?

  • Reiki is a complimentary treatment form of spiritual practice that utilizes
universal energy for healing of physical, mental, and emotional diseases.
It's origin is in early 20th century Japan and was developed by Dr. Mikao
Usui after a three week healing, fasting, and meditation on Mount Kurama.

  • Reiki is also considered energy medicine, as it works on the energetic
aspects of the recipient to facilitate free energy flow and balance of the
energy, or chakra system. This idea is based on traditional Eastern
    practices.

  • Reiki (or ray-key) meaning in Japanese is "rei" meaning unseen or
spiritual, and "ki" (of Chinese "qi") meaning energy or life force.  In
English, Reiki generally means Universal Healing Energy, though the term
"Reiki" can describe the practice of Reiki as a therapeutic process or be
    descriptive of the energy itself.

  • A Reiki practitioner has completed an attunement process whereupon the
Reiki "channel" is opened, symbols are given, and techniques taught to the
student by a Reiki Master Teacher. Though Usui is considered the original
type of Reiki, over time and use, many new facets of Reiki have been
developed, passed on, and put to use with successful results.

  • Reiki is a holistic therapy that brings about healing on physical, mental,
emotional, and spiritual levels.  The practitioner acts as a conduit for the
Reiki energy, though the energy itself will flow where it needs to without
conscious direction by the practitioner or the recipient.  A popular saying
among practitioners is "Reiki flows where it needs to go".  As a result,
healing may be affected on one or all of the mentioned domains.

Reiki is used by practitioners in the following ways to affect
physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing:

  • Whole Body Treatment - addresses the entire person as an energetic whole.

  • Localized Treatment - addresses a specific area with acute need.

  • Informal - the practitioner will use Reiki in conjunction with intuition for
    the treatment.

  • Group Treatment - two or more Reiki practitioners will treat a single
    recipient.

  • Plants and Animals- plants and animals are also energetic beings that
receive the benefits of Reiki, though the time Reiki is administered is
    generally shorter than with people.

  • Spiritual Practice- Reiki is often used as a spiritual practice itself, and to
augment other spiritual practices.  The fundamental basis of Reiki spiritual
practice is a once daily hour self-treatment conducted in a meditative state
    of mind.

  • Reiki treatments may be conducted with a laying on of hands with the
recipient lying comfortably on a Massage/Reiki table or mat, or with the
practitioners hands a few centimeters from the body.  Recipient's are always
fully clothed and never touched by the practitioner in intimate or personal
    areas.

  • All treatments are conducted at the Farmington HIlls office by
appointment.  You may monitor this site for new client specials.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment and please leave
